About Us
"Connecting people for life change through Jesus Christ" is our vision statement. Authentic, grace-oriented, theologically conservative, contemporary in worship, committed to local and world missions, and serious about our celebrations; these phrases lend shape to Community Bible Church located in Fairfax, a Northern Virginia suburb of Washington, DC. We're a church on the brink of something exciting as we seek to honor God and grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Our church is made up mostly of young families, with most between the ages of 30-50. We are very relational and invest much in building a true sense of community. We dread the thought of "playing church," and although we are far from perfect, we place a high value on spiritual authenticity.
  • CBC is theologically conservative, yet very contemporary in practice. We host a worship service each Sunday morning at 11:00 where the worship is contemporary and the Word is preached in a theologically accurate and relevant way. We strive to be a place where people can come and grapple with their questions of faith.
  • Our worship is predominantly contemporary, blended with some traditional. We frequently incorporate drama into our services to raise questions and illustrate the message. We hold dearly to evangelical doctrine, and are determined to be guided by biblical principles and not human traditions or opinion.
  • Our church missions effort includes support of foreign missionaries in Ukraine, Siberia, South Africa and Madagascar, to which our church has taken or will be taking short-term trips. Domestically, we support several from our own church. We also support local social needs projects. We commit 10% of all receipts to missions.
  • We believe strongly in small group ministry, and have several adult groups spread out geographically over our region. These small groups meet weekly.
  • We are elder-led, with a current team of four elders. Our elders are also pastoral, leading home groups and teaching various classes.
  • We strongly believe in service, and in people exercising their spiritual gifts. We never want to become a spectator church. Thus all new members are encouraged to attend a spiritual gifts course (based upon Bruce Bugbee's What You Do Best and Network).
  • The vision of CBC's Children's Ministry is to point our children to the love of Jesus with the goal of having them choose to follow Him. Our Children's Ministry Director leads an adult volunteer team that ministers to children between the ages of newborn through 5th grade. Our Children's Ministry meets at 9:30 each Sunday morning.
  • CBC's Youth/Student Ministry goal is to help teenagers internalize their faith, and to make it their own. Our full-time Youth Pastor leads a core ministry team and a growing group of youth. Our youth engage in small mentoring/discipleship groups and have taken several summer youth mission trips combining evangelistic outreach with volunteer labor projects.
  • Our Men's and Women's Ministries consist of several informal small groups, designed for relationships and accountability.

Today our goal is clearer than ever. God has placed a passion in our hearts. We believe that He wants our church to commit itself to…

Connecting people for life change through Jesus Christ

Anything less and anything else is just "playing church." So with God's help, we hope to help as many people as possible to grapple with their questions of faith, and through Jesus Christ, find the answers they are looking for.
